QTDEI: "AEROS - MH1 - Software Challenges for Space"
26-03-2025

The Department of Computer Engineering (DEI) of the “Instituto Superior de Engenharia do Porto” (ISEP), in collaboration with the Master's in Computer Engineering (MEI), the Master's in Artificial Intelligence Engineering (MEIA) and the PhD in AI and Intelligent Systems Engineering (DIAESI), invites to participate in the lecture "AEROS - MH1 - Software Challenges for Space", which will take place on April 2nd, at 6 p.m., in room B203.

Abstract

In this session, will be shared experiences in the development of embedded software for satellites and discussed two types of satellites: “New Space” satellites, using the AEROS MH-1 development as an example; and “Old Space” satellites, where will be presented experiences with critical software development applied to various missions such as Galileo, IXV, Solar Orbiter, EUCLID, smallGEO, among others. Will be described the different stages of satellite development, from concept definition to operations in space – from A to Z. Finally, will be discussed the implementation of Artificial Intelligence in satellites, exploring its applications and possible implementations.
