
Yesterday, 27th May, at 5pm, the “Instituto Superior de Engenharia do Porto” (ISEP) received a visit from the Vice-President of the European Commission, Margaritis Schinas.
The Vice-President's first stop was the “ISEP Career Summit”, a job and engineering fair organised by the Students' Association (aeISEP), followed by a visit to ISEP's Autonomous Systems Laboratory (LSA). The visit culminated in a talk with the students, where various subjects were discussed on the theme of “European Challenges and Priorities for the Future”, and where Margaritis Schinas emphasised the importance of training more engineers in Europe. At the end, a question session was opened.
With regard to the European elections, which will take place on 9th June, in his speech the Vice-President called for people to vote, saying: “Vote, if you don't, no one will do it for you. Exercise your right to vote.”.
Accompanying the event were the President of ISEP, Maria João Viamonte, and the President of aeISEP, Rodrigo Portela.
Margaritis Schinas has been Vice-President of the European Commission for Promoting the European Way of Life in the von der Leyen Commission since December 2019. She oversees the European Union's policies on migration; security; social rights; skills; education; culture; youth, health and religious dialogue.
