The Department of Computer Engineering (DEI) of the “Instituto Superior de Engenharia do Porto” (ISEP), in collaboration with the Master's in Computer Engineering (MEI), invites to participate in the lecture “Accessibility in Documents: Why and How?”, which will take place on March 8th, at 6 .pm., in room B301.
Abstract
Digital accessibility is a fundamental right and a key component of inclusion in Higher Education. This talk aims to raise awareness within the academic community about the importance of creating accessible documents, from both a legal and ethical standpoint. It will present practical strategies to ensure that digital documents — especially in Word and PDF formats — can be used by everyone, including individuals with visual, motor or cognitive impairments. The session combines theoretical foundations with practical demonstrations, promoting a critical and mindful approach to the design of inclusive digital content.
